9/11 Memorial

This memorial was built to commemorate those who lost their lives in the heart-wrenching September 11, 2001, incident. The memorial was built at the entrance of the Fire Training Center. The credit of designing this iconic memorial goes to noteworthy architect Mike Christainer, who used to work at SFS Architecture. This 14-foot high memorial was delivered to the be built at its current site by MIQ Logistics, a renowned local transport company based in the city. The piece of steel, which was the vestige of fallen World Trade Center Towers, was transported at the insistence of and the application filed by Trevor Miller, Overland Park firefighter, and Capt. Paul Bishoff. The request was made to the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey.

Nestled in the University of Kansas Campus, Korean War Veterans Memorial was built in the memory of fallen and missing U.S. military warriors during the Korean War. The site is dotted with rock piles representing Korea's battlefields. This iconic memorial was built to acknowledge the sacrifice of the veterans who fought courageously during the 2l0 North East Kansas Korean war. The memorial is marked with three tablets: one tablet reads the names of the people representing 25 counties of northeastern Kansas, the second tablet has been inscribed with a detailed map of Korean peninsula, and the third tablet has got a poem, titled “Freedoms Flag,” inscribed on it. The poem was the creation of Charles M. Province, founder and president of the George S. Patton Historical Society.
